Jaipur - Voices from CII

Media Action Group, January 19, 2015

CII Partnership Summit was held in Jaipur from January 15 – 17, 2015. Started in 1995, the Partnership Summit – CII’s flagship international event is currently in its 21stedition.

The summit was organised in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India as well as the Government of Rajasthan, commemorates the Confederation’s 120th year. The theme for the Summit was “Partnerships for Shared New Realities”. In this era of ‘Shared New Realities’, the world would like to see an active engagement and collaboration with India and stimulate discussions among key stakeholders – political, institutional, business, media and academia – on the way forward by looking at the best strategies for both developed and developing economies to encourage and build new bridges which foster balanced and equitable growth. The Partnership Summit offers the platform for such an engagement to take place.

Some of the topics under discussion at the Summit include: “Two decades of WTO: Why it matters for development”; “Resurgent Rajasthan”; “US and India: Creating a shared future”; “Mega regional trading blocs: Implications for emerging economies”; “Make in India” and “Revitalising South Asia economic cooperation”; “Financing for growth and development”, “Growing importance of service sector and FDI in manufacturing value chains”, Global development agenda beyond 2015” among others.

Over 1000 delegates with over 40 per cent participation from overseas participated at the Summit. Delegates from 51 countries will be converging in Jaipur for the Summit. The Summit played host to Trade and Economic Ministers of 24 countries. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce & Industry and Vasundhara Raje, Chief Minister of Rajasthan addressed at the Inaugural Session of the Partnership Summit. Senior officials from both the Central and State Government were participated in the session.

On the side lines of CII this is what brilliant brains conversed with our team.

Dr. Frank-Jürgen Richter, Chairman HORASIS, Global Business Community said, the economy of India is growing on a faster speed. Investor friendly models are required for the overseas tie ups to gain the momentum in manufacturing industry. We bring Indian CEO’s to outside to expand the new horizons. The new government in Rajasthan is very interested and looking towards the win -win growth in India and abroad. Prime Minister Modi is very intelligent and welcoming to new ideas.

India will become China in next two years as far as the economy and manufacturing is concerned. But India must adhere to the quality of good products. It must make its ‘Make in India’ dream a big success and not compromise on the quality. I believe Modi is moving towards the Chinese style but without any proper physical direction. But India should never imitate china.
